15.04.2026.

While researching the everyday life of the town of Hvar during the First World War, Prof. Mladenko Domazet, Ph.D., conducted archival research in Hvar from 27 March to 2 April. He examined the archival holdings of the Museum of Hvar Heritage and the material from the Hvar Municipality Fund.

The collected and scanned material, in relation to the objectives of the MEDHRID project, potentially covers the following thematic areas: everyday life, war propaganda, population nutrition, land cultivation and other economic activities, price movements of goods (inflation), as well as children’s education and the functioning of the elementary school. This enables a “view from below” of the daily life and existence of the inhabitants of Hvar during the First World War. In total, 571 pages of archival documents relevant to the study of the project’s main topic were scanned.
