Associate Professor Ana Torlak, PhD, together with student Anđela Prodan, presented a paper entitled “Visovac in a Mid-Nineteenth-Century Travelogue” at the scientific conference Fra Julijan Ramljak and the Franciscans in the Drniš Area (Drniš–Visovac, 16–17 October 2026). The conference was organised by the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences in Split, with the Franciscan Province of the Most Holy Redeemer and the City of Drniš as co-organisers.
The presentation compared the accounts of British travel writers Wilkinson and Paton, focusing on their descriptions of Visovac and their attitudes towards the Franciscans. Wilkinson’s drawings of Visovac from 1844, held at the Bodleian Library in Oxford, were presented to the public for the first time.
