Existing studies have rarely examined these relations beyond the framework of the general history of Dalmatia, with the exception of a few monographs and studies focused on micro-localities. The aim of the project is to synthesize these insights through a monographic and comparative approach, combined with the renewed use of archival sources and statistical methods to compare the two economies. The innovative aspect of the research lies in its analysis of Venetian success through the lens of the Military Revolution and the economic model that gradually undermined the timar system. This process shaped migration patterns as well as cultural and mental frameworks, and contributed to the formation of Croatian identity. The methodology includes an analysis of the relevant literature and archival research in Zadar and Venice, particularly in the fonds Acts of the General Providors of Dalmatia or Acta of the General Provveditori of Dalmatia.

The research conducted by Josip Vrandečić, Full Professor with tenure, focuses on the early modern Dalmatian context of the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries, with particular emphasis on Venetian–Ottoman relations.
