As part of the MEDHRID project, external collaborator Frano Bili\u0107, a researcher of the Centre for Croatian, Venetian and Ottoman Studies at the University of Split, conducted a research stay in Budapest from 20 September to 24 October 2026.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

His research was carried out in the archives and libraries of the following institutions: the Hungarian Academy of Sciences (Magyar Tudom\u00e1nyos Akad\u00e9mia, <\/em>MTA), the National Archives of Hungary (Magyar Nemzeti Lev\u00e9lt\u00e1r<\/em>), the National Sz\u00e9ch\u00e9nyi Library (Orsz\u00e1gos Sz\u00e9ch\u00e9nyi K\u00f6nyvt\u00e1r<\/em>), and the University Library and Archives of E\u00f6tv\u00f6s Lor\u00e1nd University (ELTE, Egyetemi K\u00f6nyvt\u00e1r \u00e9s Lev\u00e9lt\u00e1r<\/em>).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The main objective of the research was to gain a deeper understanding of Milan \u0160ufflay\u2019s connections with Hungarian academic and political circles and how these connections directly influenced the formation of his unionist views. Particular attention was paid to his correspondence with Hungarian colleagues, especially historians Lajos Thall\u00f3czy and Gyula Szekf\u0171, as well as literary historian J\u00f3zsef Bajza.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition, Bili\u0107 consulted a selection of documents shedding light on the still insufficiently researched activities of the Croatian Committee and the Croatian Legion in exile in the years immediately following the First World War.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
